Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden World Series after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.

Behind 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for our team, our city, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment besides George Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their performance this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
