President Trump Calls Families of Shot Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have been held in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident led the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and cease providing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
