A Chinese judicial body has sentenced several leading members of a notorious Myanmar mafia to death as Chinese authorities maintains its efforts on scam operations in Southeast Asian region.
Altogether, 21 Bai family members and associates were found guilty of scams, murder, assault and other crimes, said a state media report released on the court website.
The group is one of a few of mafias that rose to power in the early 2000s and changed the underdeveloped remote area of the town into a profitable hub of gambling establishments and entertainment zones.
